Croatian seminary has strong role in the Balkans and Eastern Europe
Founded in 1976, Evangelical Theological Seminary (ETS) has been providing theological education in Croatia for 32 years. The interdenominational seminary of 740 graduates still continues to maintain its strong role in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. ETS has gradually shifted its main focus from undergraduate programs to Master’s and Doctoral studies. Programs are continuously changing to increase students’ awareness of other ministries, preparing them in such areas as church counseling, leading worship and providing teaching in their local environments.
ETS has built strong relations with the local churches and other Christian communities. Christian leaders in the community and from all over the country regularly participate in their various conferences and Christian music concerts. The seminary also supports and equips the churches by sharing its multi-media center to offer lecture recordings, radio programs and music production.
ETS calls their fairly new learning center and library a “strong blessing,” providing more modern classrooms and additional library space. One of the seminary’s biggest opportunities has been the official opening of the doctoral program this academic year, accompanied with the selection of the first candidates.
Master of Theology student Benjamin Ioan Podut preaches in two churches and ministers to hospital patients. He is involved in a group of pastors that ministers to 1,000 prison inmates in Oradea; helped start a Gospel-spreading project in Italy; and initiated a prayer ministry. “My studies at ETS are helping me to be a good servant of the Lord,” Benjamin says. “Thank you for all you are doing to support my ministry. I pray that the Lord will bless your lives and all that you are doing for Him.”
